Miss Virginia crowned Miss America 2010
Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron a 22-year-old from Fredericksburg, Va., won the 2010 Miss America title, a $50,000 scholarship and the crown in Las Vegas after a pageant that started with 53 contestants. She outlasted her opponents in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview competitions.
VMSoul would like to acknowledge and honor Kater Gordon On her winning the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards.
Former Virginia Beach resident, Kater Gordon, co-wrote the nominated episode, "Meditations in an Emergency," (with Matthew Weiner) for the multiple Emmy winning show, "Mad Men."
Kate Gordon graduated from First Colonial High School in 2000 and the University of Virginia in 2004. Gordon has worked on numerous films and TV shows, such as Steven Spielberg's "Munich," and the hit TV show, "Third Watch."
VMSoul would like to acknowledge and honor DAVID ROBINSON On his induction into the NBA Hall of Fame.
Robinson was a student at Green Run High School where he was a good athlete but did not play basketball there. His father, who was in the Navy, focused David’s mind on education. Plus, David Robinson had not experienced his growing spurt yet.
But now he is being inducted into the Hall of Fame, having graduated from the Naval Academy, where he grew seven inches, began to play basketball; graduated with a degree in mathematics and spent two years on active duty
Drafted #1, despite commitment to the Navy, which made him unavailable for next two seasons
One of only four NBA players ever to score a "quadruple double" with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocked shots (against Detroit Pistons, 1994) and won the Most Valuable Player Award for the season.
Played on the NBA All-Star team every year of his professional career and played on four Olympic "Dream Teams"
And like a storybook ending, to his career, won the NBA championship in his last game (June 15, 2003)

Bruce Smith, the Booker T. Washington of Norfolk, and VA Tech graduate, is being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame as a Buffalo Bill.
